Club Policy

Performance and Training: Track and field is a very competitive sport, especially in older age divisions. The main emphasis at PRTC is for the individual athlete to measure success by consistent improvement in his/her event outcome/marks. Making progress in performance requires hard work. Since practices are conducted only two or three times per week, it is important that athletes and parents make every effort to be punctual. Any athlete who wants to supplement the training schedule should only do so after speaking with the coach and developing an approved supplemental work-out program.

Attitude and Conduct: Each PRTC member, athlete and parent, is expected to display good conduct and behavior at all times al1d to exhibit good sportsmanship in victory as well as defeat. Any member who has continued difficulty following team rules, coaches' instructions, and/or cooperating with other team members will be requested to resign from participation in PRTC.

While PRTC offers an opportunity for younger children to participate in track and field, parents must recognize that younger members of the team should not be expected to train as intensely as the older athletes do. A fundamental belief at PRTC is that a good attitude and eagerness to improve are more important than immense talent and a poor attitude.

Parental Encouragement: Parents must be willing to provide encouragement and motivation if an athlete is to achieve success in sports. However, an athletic involvement in USA Track and Field and in PRTC should be voluntary and not due to the pressure of the parent(s) An athlete's performance should never be compared to that of another athlete Probably the most challenging task for a parent is to provide the proper balance of support and encouragement.

Parental Assistance: Parental assistance is essential to the success of PRTC. Do not hesitate to volunteer your skills! Feel free to speak with any board member about your opportunities to assist with paperwork or at practice or to share your ideas

Grievances: Any grievance should be addressed to one of the Officers of PRTC: Open and honest communications are most important, and the organization seeks to resolve any issues that any individual has.
